Mussoorie
Wynberg-Allen School, Mussoorie hosted the “133rd Annual Inter-house Athletics Meet 2024”. The Guest of Honour on the occasion was Mr. Naresh Kumar, IRPS, Principal, Oak Grove School, Mussoorie. The meet started with the impressive march past by four different houses with bagpipes being played by the Wynberg-Allen Marching Band for the very first time. Samridhi Singh and Shlok Aggarwal, the school captains for the girls and boys, respectively, took the oath on behalf of the participating athletes. The meet was declared open by the chief guest after the march past.
Sheen Yunas of Condon house created a new record in the 400 m senior girls’ event with a timing of 1:11:00 seconds. Bolli Vishwa of Powell house created a new record in 100 m senior boys division with the timing of 11:40 seconds. Bolli broke the Peter Carlyne’s record of 19 . The following athletes were declared individual champions in their respective divisions: Aarvi Rathee of Powell house in the junior girls’ division and Harsh Raj Singh of Allen house in the junior boys’ division; Shivyana K.C. of Allen house and Arnav Prakash of Powell House in the intermediate division, Sheen Yunas of Condon house and Abhijay Singla of Allen house in the Senior Division.
The march past cake was awarded to jointly to the Condon and Foy Houses. The best turn out cake was awarded to the Allen house. The winner for the Tug-O-War (Boys) was Foy House and for the girls Allen House.
Foy house was declared the overall Relay winner.
Bolli Vishwa and Sheen Yunas were declared the fastest sprinters of the meet for the boys and for the girls respectively.
The Elizabeth Davenport trophy for the Best Athlete (Girls) went to Sheen Yunas of Condon House. Abhijay Singla of Allen house was awarded with the Mike Harrison Trophy for the Best Athlete among Boys.
Powell house was declared the overall champion of the meet.
Mr. Kumar awarded the certificates and trophies to the winners. Principal Mr. L. Tindale congratulated all the winners and thanked all the officials, especially Headmaster Mr. Pradipt Radcliffe, the physical education department which included Mr. Champa, Mr. Ajit Kumar, Ms Choying Bhutia, Mr. Jagmohan Negi, Mr. Sanjay Hatwal, Mr. Bodo Mochahary Mr. Tashi Tsering Mr. Jaswant Rathore and Ms Palpasha Gurung for successfully conducting the meet.
Besides a large number of parents and former students, the other dignitaries present at the meet were Mr. Rajat Aggarwal, Mr. Vijay Prakash, Mr. and Mrs. Ajay Mark, Mrs. Cashmore, Ms. Madhu Mehrotra, Mr. and Mrs. Templeton.
