Ishiita Maleta, a class 12 student of the prestigious Wynberg-Allen School, Mussoorie secured 3rd rank in the All India Albert Barrow Memorial Inter- School Creative Writing (Senior Category) Competition- 2024.
The competition is hosted every year in the memory of Albert Barrow, the founder secretary of the Council for the Indian School certificate Examinations, New Delhi to provide a platform to showcase the creativity and linguistics skills of the students from affiliated schools.
Over the years this competition has been successful in unearthing the talent that lies in our schools across the length and breadth of our nation. The competition also bears testimony to the fact that the written word has immense power, a power that many of our students have realized and used to their benefit.
The competition took place on 12th August 2024 simultaneously at different venues all over the country. Ishiita participated in the competition in category I (senior category) at Brooklyn School, Dehradun along with a large number of participants from the neighbouring areas. The topics for the competition were declared open in the presence of the supervisor. The topic chosen by Ishiita for the competition this year was Planet of Clones. The word limit for the competition was one thousand. Principal Wynberg Allen Mr Leslie Tindale informed the reporter that last year Ishiita ranked 5th in the same competition.
Besides the medal and a certificate of merit, Ishiita was awarded a cash prize of Rs/- 2000/- by the council, which she decided to donate to an animal welfare society in school.
