Dehradun, August 3:
With the resolve to ensure India hosts the 2036 Olympics, Sports Minister Rekha Arya is embarking on a foot march from Haridwar. The Sports Minister announced the special sacred Kanwar Yatra, to be held on August 10, at a press conference held at the Uttarakhand Press Club on Monday.
He said that this visit is being organised to realise Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s resolve to make India a sports superpower and host the 2036 Olympic Games.
Rekha Arya stated that the Kanwar Yatra will begin at Har Ki Pauri in Haridwar and conclude with a water offering at the sacred Veerbhadra Temple in Rishikesh. She said that by offering water at the feet of Lord Shiva, a pledge will be made to ensure India hosts the 2036 Olympic Games and to make the country a global leader in sports.
He said that Devbhoomi Uttarakhand has always been a land that energizes national resolve. Organized with this spirit, this Yatra will not only be a religious ritual but also a confluence of Uttarakhand’s cultural heritage, sports consciousness, and resolve to build the nation. He expressed confidence that this Sankalp Yatra, originating from Devbhoomi, will instill new enthusiasm and positive energy for sports among youth across the country.
Rekha Arya stated that the yatra will be accompanied by the saints. Mahant Shri Hari Giri Ji Maharaj, Patron and International General Secretary of the Shri Panch Dashnam Juna Akhara, and Mahendra Shri Ravindra Puri Maharaj, National President of the All India Akhara Parishad, will also participate in the Kavad Yatra at different stages.
Along with this, players, youth, sports lovers and a large number of common citizens of the state and country will also participate in it.
The Sports Minister appealed to the state’s youth, athletes, sports lovers, saints and the general public to participate in large numbers in the sacred Kanwar Yatra, being organized from Har Ki Pauri to Rishikesh on August 10. He said that with everyone’s collective resolve and blessings, India will take strong steps towards becoming a sports superpower and hosting the 2036 Olympic Games.
