Nikita Arya and Amritesh Singh of Wynberg-Allen School”, Mussoorie did their school and the city proud by winning the first position in the 4th Farida Abraham Memorial National Quiz conducted by La Martiniere Girls’ College, Lucknow. The preliminary round of the quiz was held on the 29th of October, 2021 in which six teams qualified for the finals. The team qualified for the final round after competing against some highly reputed schools from across the country. The top six teams that qualified for the final round were La Martiniere Girls’ College, Lucknow; Rashtriya Indian Military College, Dehradun; La Martiniere Boys’ College, Kolkata; Loreto Convent International School, Lucknow and St Francis’ College, Lucknow.
The final round of the quiz was conducted on 31st October online on Zoom platform with very strict guidelines. Six highly interesting and informative rounds based on Current Affairs; Personalities; Science, Technology and Environment; Sports; Culture and Heritage were conducted in the quiz. The last round was the Rapid Fire round, which every participant enjoyed. The quiz was very well conducted by Mr Sachidananda Sharma, a reputed quizmaster. The Wynberg-Allen team remained among the top three best performing teams for the entire duration of the quiz, along with the host school – La Martiniere Girls’ College, Lucknow – and RIMC, Dehradun. It was the last round, the Rapid Fire round, the most interesting round, that enabled the team to gain an edge over their opponents and tie with the host school for the first position, as, in this round, the team secured the highest number of points. Rashtriya Indian Military College (RIMC), Dehradun, stood as the 2nd Runner-Up in the quiz.
